Planning and
making decisions for your overseas wedding can be a time consuming
and sometimes difficult experience to say the least! One easy way to
bring your whole wedding experience and wedding planning together
and a way to bring complete coherency to your day is to choose a “
THEME “ for your wedding.
Now, this can be
a simple idea such as a colour, a certain type of flower, a mutual
hobby you both have, to something more complex such as a “time era”
theme, ie a 60´s wedding, a medieval feast wedding etc. This theme
can then be used right from the beginning of your planning to
influence your choice of invitations, choice of venue, type of
wedding transport, dress code, choice of flowers, decoration to even
the style of photography and more importantly the whole ambience of
your wedding. It can be entwined into all the elements that make up
your day to help create a very personal yet unified event. Let your
guests know the theme when they receive their invitations so they
can play with it as they wish!

ideas of topical wedding themes that can be incorporated easily into
overseas weddings.
SUNFLOWERS and DAISIES
A sunny destination wedding deserves a sunny theme! Both of these
beautiful flowers add both colour and smiles to any wedding. Add a
contemporary sunflower or daisy bouquet, simple displays as your
table decorations, favour details, cake decorations etc – or you can
take this simple theme one stage further and go for a “daisy chain
clad” Hippy theme, ideal for a laid back wedding in IBIZA! - take
your guests back to the origin of the Hippys in IBIZA, have a simple
beach or country venue, fill the air with 60s music and enjoy!

METALS: SILVER AND BLUE / GOLD AND BROWN /
BRONZE AND ORANGE
Choosing two contrasts adds both interest and flexibility
to any theme. Bridesmaids and page boys can combine the colours in
their dress and accessories. Grooms and best-men with their attire.
Flower decorations can have silver, gold or bronze foliage for
something different. Decorative chains can be draped on the tables,
metallic bows on your chair backs etc

BEACH THEME
This can be easily created with decorations of seashells, starfish
and coloured sands. Choose a favour such as a small deckchair as a
fun idea!

Shells and tiny starfish can be incorporated into you wedding
bouquet. Choose the names of local beaches for your table names. A
sunset beach venue is ideal for this relaxed ambience wedding. Why
not stipulate on your invitations that the colour and dress code is
WHITE LINEN - perfect for the ultimate summer wedding!
BLACK & WHITE
The most popular colour themes for 2008 are black & white –
again ask your guests to dress to this colour code for some very
striking group photos! Choose to have only black and white photos
to complete the theme. Place back and white photos of well known
film stars on the tables to name your tables, scatter trivia
film-star cards on your tables, have disposable black and white
cameras on the tables for your guests to capture those special
moments.

SHADES OF PURPLE AND MAUVE
Dress three or four bridesmaids each in different tones
of purple to be different. Add crystal to the purple theme to create
an elegant combination. Have “crystal” jewellery, place “crystals”
in your flower decorations, table confetti, choice of favours etc.
Place mirrors under your table centre to reflect and maximise the

VINTAGE
Again a must for the dress code, and a dream for the
bride to choose a unique vintage style wedding dress, choose your
ideal vintage wedding car, you can maybe find an old historical
Cathedral or church to create the ideal atmosphere for your
ceremony. The reception could then be in a suitable vintage finca
type property. Choose to have your photos in “sepia” to create the
vintage ambience to you wedding album. Have old family photos on the
tables for a fun who’s who? Elegance and charm, with a twist of
humour is the order of the day with this one.

NAUTICAL
